Venerable Joshua Mallam

Joshua Mallam, a serving Venerable and a supervisor of Kasuwan Magani Missionary Archdeaconry, Diocese of Kaduna (Anglican Communion) was born in the mid-1960s to the family of Mallam Baraya Gangkon in Kamuru town of Zangon Kataf Local Government, Kaduna State, Nigeria.

Mallam attended LEA ECWA Kamuru for his primary school education in the year 1980; he proceeded to Rimi College Kaduna for his secondary school education where he obtained his General Certificate of Education (GCE) in the year 1986. To further his studies, in the year 1987 he gained admission into the Federal Polytechnic Bida Niger State Nigeria where he obtained his Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration in the year 1993. Answering clarion call to serve God, Mallam diverted to pursue a degree in Divinity; in 2006 he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Divinity (BD) at the Theological College of Northern Nigeria (TCNN) Bukuru, Jos, Plateau State. Interestingly, he did not stop at that, he was sponsored by the Program for Christian – Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA) to St. Paul’s University, Limuru, Kenya in 2010 where he obtained his Master’s Degree (M.A) in Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations.

In 2012 he obtained his Post Graduate Diploma of Education (PGDE) with the National Teacher’s Institute (NTI) Kaduna. Working with PROCMURA and other Interfaith related organizations, he had been greatly involved in organizing, running and coordinating programs specifically focused on the promotion of Interfaith, dialogue and peace building for the maintenance and sustenance of harmonious relationship among Muslims and Christians in the Northern part of Nigeria. He rose through the ranks to the position of Regional Coordinator for Anglo-Phone West Africa with PROCMURA. Due to Mallam’s vast experience in Muslim-Christian relations and the urgent need to impact the knowledge to both Christians and Muslims, Venerable Joshua Mallam is also a part-time lecturer/facilitator at Kaduna Center for the Study of Christian – Muslim Relations since 2011 till now. He has served as the assistant secretary and later secretary with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Kaduna State Chapter from 2011 to 2013.

Venerable believes that “The joy or Sadness of today may be as a result of the decisions of yesterday; And the joy or sadness of tomorrow may also be as a result of today's decision". All this and others form the basis Venerable Joshua Mallam accepted to serve as Co-Director, Programs in the International Center for Interfaith Peace and Harmony (ICIPH) He has widely travelled, some of the countries are but not limited to Australia, Germany, Kenya and Israel. Venerable Joshua Mallam is married and blessed with children.
